Screen Australia has awarded Past Curfew development funding for their animated documentary, In, Out.
We are excited to announce that we have secured funding for our animated documentary, In, Out with Screen Australia.
Writer/Director Allison Brownmoore pitched the documentary at AIDC, the Australian International Documentary Conference in March. Her film was one of six selected from across Australia to pitch, and throughout the process she was mentored by Yvonne Ashley Kouadjo from NY Times Op-Docs.
After a successful pitch, Allison was then one of three projects to be awarded development funding.
We’re very excited to be bringing this story to life!
Synopsis:
A young lesbian navigates her first boyfriend and coming out, all over again. In, Out is a film exploring sexual identity, it’s about finding yourself amongst the noise, and recognising that discovering your sexual identity can be fun, chaotic, isolating, messy and – sometimes – non linear. Bisexuals comprise of over fifty percent of the LGBTQI+ community, and yet we are marginalised both within that community, and within society. Gay and lesbian acceptance and representation has made leaps and bounds over these past decades. We have also had significant progressions regarding gender fluidity – but what about sexual fluidity? In, Out is a film is about sexual identity. This film is about accepting not only others for their differences, but also yourself.
